I wrote to my friends dad.

November 24 2020. Date

Dear Kape/ Mr.Murray.  ← Greeting

Thank you for being  great supervisors while our class (Te Kauru) were enjoying planting the recently cut down trees. Because you were there we could actually go on our trip. For me that’s how you really helped our class. My favourite part was seeing a lot of the people in my class have lots of fun

Dear Kape/ Mr.Murray.

Thank you for being a great supervisor while our class (Te Kauru) were enjoying planting at Lake Ngatu at the site of where the big trees were recently cut down . Because you were there we could actually help plant the tree seedlings. For me that’s how you really helped our class. My favourite part was seeing a lot of the people in my class have lots of fun.

Listening To The Land

Text Title - Listening to the land

Author - Laura Goodall

Date - 3.9.20

Activity - Text user - What do I do with this text?

What sort of text is this? (text types)

Fact.

How do you know?

I know it’s a text about facts because it talks about things that are happening at the time and not what's happening in the future/the potential of something happening.

How can you find information in this text?

By reading it over and over again.

Could this text solve a real life problem?

I think yes because it can tell a lot of people what climate change is doing to our world .

StoryBoard.

WALT: we are learning to make a storyboard for our class movie.

I enjoyed making this storyboard and coloring it in once I was finished. My idea for our movie was that you were watchinh a movie during the Covid-19 lockdown and you hear a loud knocking at the door.

Mystery Box or $50

A Mystery box or $50! How do I choose, I’m thinking about going for the mystery box but in it there might just be one little chocolate bar but if I take the 50 dollars I can purchase all the chocolate I want. My mind is struggling to choose one of the items so it puts its thinking cap on and starts to think properly, after a long time of thinking my mind finally decides to take the mystery box. Instead of ripping it open I slowly open it from the top as I’m shaking with fear, my mind is thinking about what might be in it, he thinks there might just be a Banana peel or it might be something really good like 100 dollars. Inside the box wasn’t anything good but nothing bad either, there was another box so this time instead of slowly opening it I ripped it up just to find another box, my mind thought “this could go on forever!” But this time in the box there was a ball, I’m quite disappointed that I got a ball. So I shake the ball to hear another ball inside it bouncing around I find a sharp item that can pop the ball like a nail or pencil, once I’ve popped the ball it turns out the thing bouncing inside was another box so I shake this so hard that $200 comes flying out and lands right on my dogs small fluffy head.I soon remember that I have never had a dog until now I’m so happy that I chose the mystery box now!

Here are the tools I used to make the L in the soap.

After a lot of hard work i have finally finished.

Text User - What do I do with this text?

Question -If you wrote a text like this what words and phrases would you use?

Response - i would use the word Aftershock because it sounds very interesting.

Question - Could the text help solve a real life problem?

Response -I say yes because it might alarm other people about the destruction that an earthquake can cause.

Text Analyst

What does this text do to me?

Question - How would the text be different if told in another time or place, e.g. 1900 or 2100?

Response - it would be different because the building foundation might not have been as strong in 1900, and in 2100 the builders could make the building very very strong.

Question -Are there stereotypes in the text?

Response - No because it talks more about facts and not different types of people.

Text Participant

What does this text mean to me?

Question - What does the title/cover suggest that the text is about?

Response -It shows us how big an earthquake can really be and the damage it can do to buildings.

Question -Describe or draw a picture of a character, event or scene from the text?

Response -

Code Breaker

How do I crack this code?

Question -Do the pictures help to tell the story?

Response - I think yes because if you're not a confident reader you would be able to look at the pictures and tell what is going on.

Question -What words are tricky to pronounce?

Response -I think Liquefaction is a bit tricky because it can easily be mistaken for a different word.

Free Writng Frenzy. Pizza Delivery

27.5.20

The Pizza delivery person brings you something you didn’t order…
I suddenly heard a loud knock on the door. I quickly rushed to the door to get my fresh juicy pepperoni pizza . I opened the door and no one was there. I panicked and went crazy looking for my pizza as I had been waiting for an hour already, I ran outside and tripped on the pizza box. “YES I found it!” I happily say to myself.I excitedly skip into the kitchen to get me a plate, that’s when I realised that I got a disgusting burnt broccoli and mayonnaise pizza, so I decided to get my sister to try it. “Hey Sis come try this pizza, that I didn’t order but was at the door anyway!” I yelled to my sister, “ Okay coming down the stairs now” replied my sister. As I grab her a plate I nearly faint because of the smell, this pizza smells like rotten eggs that have been put on burnt toast!

The Mad Hatter - Story Starter

The Mad Hatter  -Story Starter

He was a most peculiar looking chap…..

Can you write a character description of the Mad Hatter?

He was a most peculiar looking chap…
He wears colours like a rainbow and funky hair  which looks like he’s had a bad hair day, not to mention his big bulging eyes like an owl, a tiny tiny little mouth and ghastly white skin like he’s never seen the sun before. What is that? you may ask. That is a bizarre top hat that reaches to the clouds. He has such a funny voice that  sounds like an evil secret villain and eyebrows as crusty as burnt toast. If I could eat him he would taste like a huge rainbow lollipop with a hat on top.

The Windmill

The Windmill Project

My dad, my brother and I put up a windmill during Lockdown.

  • Dad bought a windmill.
  • We dug a hole big enough to fit a wooden post in it.
  • Dad secured the windmill to the post.
  • Dad also connected the windmill wires to the battery.
  • We had to test the windmill to make sure it charged the battery.
  • That was the easy part, we just had to wait for the wind to move the turbines

You may be asking why we have a windmill? Can you think of why we would have one??
